Metal welding and cutting methods are widely used metal processing technologies in basic industries such as machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding, automobiles, architectures etc. Traditional public electric arc welding and plasma cutting power sources are both cumbersome (80% of the volume and weight is transformer) and electrical costly. There would be three aspects of benefits by using high frequency (25-30kHz) invert technology:

1. Volume and weight would be reduced greatly; there even appeared so-called backpack-type portable welding machines that the electric current could be as high as 160 Ampere.

2. Energy consumption would be lowered down, generally to a power saving as much as 20%.

3. Dynamic response would be increased, and the control performance of welding and cutting machine would be also improved.
